Don't let missing teeth limit your life
If you are missing any of your natural teeth, implant dentistry can provide you with teeth that look and feel like your very own. Permanent replacement teeth can be yours which enable you to enjoy the simple pleasures of unrestricted eating. With dental implants you can have the confidence to pursue an active business and social life.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are Titanium posts with specially activated surfaces. They are placed into your jawbone to function in a similar way to a natural tooth root. Your bone grows onto the implants in a process called OSSEOINTEGRATION. After a few months the implants will form a permanent part of your body, provided there are no complications.
Not everyone can be a candidate for dental implantology. The placement of implants in a patient with periodontal disease poses some concerns, as patients with periodontal diseases are more susceptible to peri-implantitis (a destructive inflammatory process affecting the soft and hard tissue surrounding the dental implant). Periodontal disease also confer an increased risk of implant loss, loss of supporting bone, and postoperative infections.
If you are considering implants, you must have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. If your bone is too thin or soft and unable to support an implant, you may require a bone graft if there is not enough bone height in the upper jaw or the sinuses are too close to the jaw, you may require a sinus lift.
